3 Tools for Geotargeting Your Marketing Campaigns
What is Geotargeting?
Hi everyone, Cody here with Elevate My Brand, and in this EMBiz video I am talking about geotargeting. So in geotargeting, what that means is targeting people in specific geographic regions, whether that’s specific cities, specific states, or even countries, although the more niche you can get, the better.
Who Should Consider Geotargeting?
So if you are a product or service-based company that’s local, and you service a specific region, then it’s going to be very clear to you how you’re going to geotarget people. But everyone should consider geotargeting, even if your audience is everyone in the United States, then you still may want to geotarget, right?
Why Geotarget?
So, an ad that is served to someone who is living in Los Angeles that says, “Hey Los Angeles, do you need X, Y, and Z?” Then that’s still going to resonate with me because it’s more personal, even though you may have an ad that says that to Philadelphia, and Chicago, and Miami… we don’t know because it’s geotargeted to us, so it’s a way of making it more personable. But, if you are a local business then you most certainly want to geotarget. And the more niche you can get, the better, because that makes it even more personable, and even more individualistic and driven by the location.
3 Tools for Geotargeting
Three main channels where you’re going to want to geotarget are (#1) social ads. You can get down very specific to cities and neighborhoods, if you’re running meta campaigns, for instance. (#2) On Google ads, you can get pretty niche as well. You can even geotarget by specific economic regions and designations. So, those are going to be really great in order to target people there. And then the third one, of course, is the print collateral. So that is everything that’s out of home. Put your ads on bus stops and buses that are going to be in the communities and make sure that that messaging is targeted to them as well.
