Marketing Design Trend Predictions for 2024
Cody Owens
Trends Are Unpredictable
Hi Cody here with Elevate My Brand. And today I want to talk to you about 2024 marketing design predictions. It's wild to be talking about 2024 already. But here we are, it's coming soon and we got to get used to it. So, the first thing that I will say before I get into the video is that you should take all of this with a grain of salt, that marketing design predictions for the coming year are always just predictions. And one of the things that's been really hard for businesses and marketing in the last couple of years is the unpredictability of literally everything. So these are trends that we're seeing and things we expect to happen in 2024 and things that we will be helping our clients to try out in their aesthetics in order to really be sort of on par with what's happening in the market and to try new things and be exciting and engaging. So, do let us know in the comments if you're trying these or if you plan to try these in 2024.
Minimalism Isn’t Going Anywhere
First is minimalism. Minimalism is really not going anywhere. It's been a big thing for the longest time and it's gonna continue to be big, but there are some nuances I think that we will see in the coming year. So, we're still gonna see those clean typefaces, simple shapes, et cetera. But two things I think we're gonna see is we're gonna see a shift in even more of those sort of like muted and monochromatic color direction. So not only being minimalistic in the contents and the shapes and the topography but also in the color use within the brand books. The other thing I think is really interesting is we're seeing already the trend in minimalism to be more hand-drawn minimalism. So not the standard like hard edges and vectorized graphics, but hand-drawn minimalistic images. And that's really interesting to me because it seems like it's trying to make minimalism work for Gen Z because Gen Z wants to see more authenticity, more organicness, and minimalism doesn't always offer that. So to have hand-drawn minimalism is kind of like a good in-between.
Maximalism & Anti-Design
The second prediction that I have is kind of about Gen Z as well and seems contradictory, but the second one is maximalism. So while some brands may go in the minimalistic route, I think other brands are going to go in the maximal route. And I would even call that anti-design and anti-design just means nonconformity. It means unexpected layouts and innovative choices in your colors and typefaces, et cetera. So really just like loud colors, loud images, using multiple typefaces that may not even be in your brand book, just really doing the most. And so we'll see that a lot because I think that's gonna resonate even more with Gen Z, who is a growing market for a lot of brands. And so we'll see some brands go the minimalistic route, some brands go the maximal route, and really interesting to see who does what.
AI Is Still on the Rise
And then the third one is AI which comes as no surprise to anyone. AI is still on the rise. It's gonna continue to rise, and honestly, whether you feel great or not great about it, it does give a lot of brands the opportunity to create graphics that they're not going to be able to create on their own. If you want a hot air balloon in the background in Fiji… before, you had to go to Fiji and rent a hot air balloon. Now, you can just use AI to create that for you. This also makes it safer for a lot of brands who are so concerned about in-person where they can do things without having to bring people on set for a photo or a video shoot. And it also allows people to just be even more creative than before and come up with even more marketing ideas.
Which Trend Will You Try?
So, those are the three predictions that I see for 2024. Minimalism, specifically hand-drawn minimalism, maximalism, and anti-design, and the third one being the rise of AI. So what do you think? What trends do you see for 2024?
