Social Good Is Great Marketing
Hi guys Laurel Mintz here with Elevate My Brand. Today’s conversation is all about social good and how you can do good in your community while getting a marketing benefit. It’s really a win-win situation. So the truth is that everyone is still struggling right now, whether you’re a for profit or a non profit brand. And there are really smart ways to support your community and get some visibility and awareness for your brand. This is something that is not new but it’s something that I don’t think a lot of brands inherently think about, and so it;s our job to bring this opportunity to your attention.
It’s really about partnership. Think about how some of the big national non profits, how massive their databases and their lists are and their social followings. So if you were doing a smart partnership agreement and really building in content marketing and social media marketing with a give back factor from a for profit brand side, you’re talking to an audience that already doesn’t know, like, or trust you yet. It builds trust very quickly and it shows that you’re brand aligned and values aligned with their audience. So it’s really an opportunity for a win-win and to support your local and national non profits.
If you’ve been following along, you know that we’ve been doing something similar here at Elevate My Brand - we’re calling it EMBetter together and as you probably know we do free 30 minute consults. Now what we’ve recently done is asked that anyone who takes us up on one of those consults, make a nominal donation to 1 of 3 charities that we have chosen. So it’s our way of giving back to our community at large by supporting them and understanding how best to market right now. And then paying it forward one more step by making financial contributions and visibility contributions to some of these amazing non profits that we’ve chosen. So that’s just one example of how you can get involved and do better for your community while still garnering a benefit for your brand. It’s a real win-win.
Another example is with one of our big retail brand partners, the PawPatrol brand. I’m sure most of you know this brand. It’s a pretty huge global brand. We were brought in to do a national road tour, so big experiential campaign - US and Canada over a three month period of time. And what we decided to do to get some extra PR value and really give back to the community at large was to partner them with K9 Companion. So at every stop along this way, we had K9 Companion, which is a national nonprofit, come in and do a moment at these experiential launches that we were doing all across the country. It created amazing visibility for them, it created some amazing media and PR opportunities, a lot of earned media and it was just a feel good factor. It made everyone feel like they were showing up and doing something that was good for their community at large. And you know, who could ask for more than that? You’re doing good in the world, getting a great response, and that’s the best thing you can do right now when brands are really struggling. So even if you are having a hard time, think about paying it forward. It really truly does always come back to you.
