6 Freebie SEO Tools For Marketers
Hi, Cody here from Elevate My Brand and I wanna give you six SEO freebies. Yes, that's six tools you can use for free to elevate your search presence. Now, I'll start by saying that I don't recommend taking SEO into your own hands unless you already have a pretty good idea of what SEO is and how to optimize it on your own. However, if you do have that confidence or you just don't have the ability to bring someone in to work with an agency right now and you have to do it on your own. There are six tools that you can use for free to do it on your own.
#1 - Google Business Profile
The first one is going to be Google My Business. Now, Google is sort of rebranding so it’s not really called Google My Business anymore. It's just really your Google Business Profile. But what it is is whenever you go and you search yourself on Google and you can see that sort of knowledge graph on the side, that panel that has photos perhaps, or reviews or your hours, things like that, you can control that by signing up for your business profile on Google. And that's really important because then you can control what those search features or search engine results, page features are about your brand. So it legitimizes you and makes you in the user's journey if all they need is that basic information.
#2 - Google Search Console
Number two is Google Search Console. Again, another free tool by Google that lets you see real search queries that people are plugging into their search bar to find you. And that is really helpful because then you can say, oh if this is what people are looking for already and this is how we're already getting traffic, we should lean into these keywords and our blog post content and our website, et cetera. It also will show you some of those more basic and common seo issues that are happening on your site. So if some of your pages aren't loading properly or they're creating a bad user experience, it'll tell you that as well. So you can go and fix that on your own.
#3 - Bing Webmaster Tools
Number three is Bing Webmaster Tools. This one may cause some eye rolls because some people think, oh well, Bing, it's not that big of a deal, but in fact, Bing has a surprisingly large share of searches on the internet. In fact, Amazon, Alexa, Xbox and Internet Explorer use Bing by default. So you may be using Bing for searches and not even know it. So Bing is really important, not only for those voice searches but also for B2B brands, because B2B brands tend to use those Microsoft products more by default than individual users. So you can think of Bing Webmaster tools sort of as Microsoft's version of Google search console.
#4 Google Keyword Planner
The fourth one is Google Keyword Planner. Another Google tool that will essentially tell you based on the last week of market and traffic data from your website in your industry, what keywords are like hot right now. So you can kind of leverage that to make content that is SEO optimized but also very timely and relevant.
#5 Answer The Public
The fifth one is called Answer The Public. Now, technically, this is a paid tool, but you can do a free trial and you can do a limited number of free searches a day, but I love Answer The Public. They have a great brand. So I would check them out anyway, but essentially it lets you plug in a short tail keyword and then it will show you related searches and related questions using that keyword comparisons, using that keyword and other related keywords that are kind of in the same vicinity of the one that you've plugged in. And it puts it all in this really beautifully organized like bubble chart. So you can kind of explore all the little branches of like what's in and around that keyword. So it kind of allows you to go really, really deep on a particular topic, if you plug in a short tail, keyword.
#6 - SEMRush
Then the sixth and final one is SEMRush. This is an industry-leading tool that's extremely holistic and comprehensive and it also is a paid tool but has some freebies that it can give you that are really great. That kind of shows you very clear and direct like competitive sets, some search recommendations, keywords, things of that nature. And I, I really recommend trying SEMRush because if you do grow and you scale and you bring on a new person or work with a marketing agency, you already have that historical data in that software that's really used across the industry. So those are six SEO tools that if you're going to do your own SEO research and marketing work you can use those tools to your advantage to elevate your brand.
