EMBiz: The Importance of Process
Laurel Mintz, CEO & Founder
Hi guys Laurel Mintz here with Elevate My Brand. Today I want to talk to you a little bit about the not so sexy topic of process. Now I am a very creative person, I’m a free thinker, I'm very arts oriented and for me it was a really big challenge to put structure and operational processes behind our work. But I will tell you, only when we did that did we see the impact that it could have on our business and really pushing our clients and ourselves forward in a really strategic way.
The first most important thing to note is that we have a system here that we call the Task Action Report and it’s kind of like a dashboard where we can put everything for our clients in one place. That allows them to be efficient, it allows us to be efficient and we have found that that has been an extremely effective way for us to work through our process with our clients.
We have a really important example to share which is on the creative side because creative is very subjective. So in our creative process, if you want us to come up with creative, we need to know what your aesthetic is before we start to just throw stuff at the wall. So in terms of process on that side, we require our clients to fill out a branding worksheet, give us examples of work they like and why, and more importantly examples of work they don’t like and why because again, the creativity process is so subjective.
So the importance of process really pushed our business forward. Even though it’s not sexy and I don’t like it, it’s so valuable and so important for operational efficiency. Again, I know it’s not sexy but I hope that you will find your own way to be as operationally efficient within your business. What is the process that you’re going to implement today that will help move your business forward?
